Veo 3.1 Quick Start Guide

You can browse Veo3o1 without buying credits. Generation requires sign-in and enough available credits for your selected settings. Valid promotional credits can be used, so a previous purchase is not required.

Start with one clear subject and action. Note your settings so you can compare the result and decide what to change next.

1. Open the generator and sign inCopy section link

Open the Veo 3.1 video generator. You can inspect the controls and prepare a prompt before purchasing credits. Sign in to the account whose credits you plan to use. For help with access or purchases, read Account, credits and billing.

2. Choose the input modeCopy section link

• Text to Video: describe a scene in a prompt without images.
• First & Last Frames: provide a starting image and, if needed, an ending image to guide a transition.
• Reference Images: use 1–3 reference images with Fast and Lite to guide a subject or visual style. This mode uses 8-second videos; Auto is unavailable.

If you are unsure, start with Text to Video. Add an image when it helps you describe the subject, visual style or intended frame.

You can select images locally while preparing the task. They are uploaded when you submit a generation with sufficient credits. Uploading requires sign-in and a positive available credit balance, but the upload itself does not deduct credits.

3. Write a one-shot promptCopy section link

Use this structure:

Subject + one action + environment + shot size + camera movement + lighting

Example:

A cyclist rides slowly through a city alley after rain. Low tracking shot,
neon reflections moving across the wet pavement, soft nighttime lighting.

Keep the prompt focused on one scene and action. If a completed result misses your brief, use the Prompt Troubleshooting Checklist before retrying.

4. Select the controlsCopy section link

• Model: choose an available model and compare the credits required for your settings.
• Duration: choose from the supported durations (4, 6, and 8 seconds); Reference Images mode uses 8 seconds.
• Resolution: choose an available resolution that suits how you plan to use the video.
• Aspect ratio: choose a supported option for your intended framing; Auto is unavailable in Reference Images mode.
• Advanced: review prompt translation and the optional watermark and seed controls.

Available settings depend on the selected mode. Some selections update other controls to keep the task compatible, so check the final settings before submitting. Read Models, Resolutions & Credits for the current options and credit requirements.

5. Review credits and generateCopy section link

Check the credits shown for your selected settings, then select Generate video. The displayed credits are reserved when you submit. Any qualifying difference is restored once the task's usage is confirmed. Processing time varies with the queue and provider conditions.

You can leave the generator and check the task later in My Works. A task may be pending, processing, completed or failed.

A network timeout does not by itself mean the task failed. If a submission is still awaiting confirmation, check My Works and contact support with the task ID or error message if available before retrying.

Once the service confirms a qualifying failure or timeout, it restores the reserved credits with their original expiry date. This is separate from a payment refund. Read Account, credits and billing for the account and refund rules.

6. Review the resultCopy section link

Check:

• whether the subject remains readable;
• whether the action fits the duration;
• whether the camera follows the requested direction;
• whether the aspect ratio suits the destination;
• whether any identity, product, text or object detail drifted.

Change one variable per retry so you can compare what changed in the result. Review the required credits before submitting another task.

7. Download or continueCopy section link

Use Download video on a completed result to open its link, then save the file to your device.

New videos are shown for up to 14 days from task creation. Result links are temporary and may stop working sooner, so save files you want to keep promptly.

Eligible completed videos may be extended or enhanced as separate tasks in My Works. Review the credits shown for each available action before starting it.
