Veo 3.1 Quick Start Guide

Create a first Veo 3.1 text-to-video or image-guided draft in Veo3o1, choose the right controls, check credits, and save the result.

Browsing Veo3o1 is free. Uploading a reference image or submitting a generation requires a signed-in account with a paid order; generation also requires enough credits. Promotional credits do not remove the purchase requirement.

This quick start creates one controlled shot and records the settings needed to improve it. Start with a simple idea rather than an entire story.

1. Open the generator and sign in

Go to the Veo 3.1 video generator. You can review the interface for free; generation requires a signed-in account, a paid order, and sufficient credits. Any enabled signup promotion is shown in the interface and may change.

2. Choose the input mode

  • Text to Video: no images; create a scene from a prompt.
  • First & Last Frames: one or two images; anchor the opening or guide a transition.
  • Reference Images: one to three images; guide identity with Lite or Fast in an 8-second 16:9 or 9:16 result.

If you are unsure, start with Text to Video. Use an image only when it solves a specific visual requirement.

3. Write one-shot prompt

Use this structure:

Subject + one action + environment + shot size + camera movement + lighting

Example:

A cyclist rides slowly through a city alley after rain. Low tracking shot,
neon reflections moving across the wet pavement, soft nighttime lighting.

Avoid several locations, time jumps, or unrelated actions in one short generation. If a completed result misses the brief, use the Prompt Troubleshooting Checklist before retrying.

4. Select the controls

  • Model: Lite for exploration, Fast for working drafts, or Quality for a selected high-value output.
  • Duration: 4, 6, or 8 seconds where supported.
  • Resolution: begin at 720p while testing; move to 1080p or 4K when the destination needs it.
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 for landscape, 9:16 for vertical, or Auto where supported.
  • Advanced: prompt translation, optional watermark, and seed.

The interface prevents unsupported combinations. Review Models, Resolutions & Credits for the full matrix.

5. Review credits and generate

The exact credit reservation appears before submission. Confirm the model and resolution, then select Generate Video. Processing time varies with queue and provider conditions.

You can leave the page and check My Works later. A task may be pending, processing, completed, or failed.

6. Review the result

Check:

  • whether the subject remains readable;
  • whether the action fits the duration;
  • whether the camera follows the requested direction;
  • whether the aspect ratio suits the destination;
  • whether any identity, product, text, or object detail drifted.

Change one variable per retry so you know what improved the result.

7. Download or continue

Download selected work promptly. New result links are temporary and remain visible for up to 14 days. Eligible completed videos may be extended or enhanced to 1080p or 4K as separate, credit-bearing actions.

Next: Reference Images, First & Last Frames, or Extend and Upscale.
